Is Jesus and Krishna one?<br />

Will the true Krist please stand up?<br />

When it was found that many of the teach<strong>in</strong>gs of Bhagawat<br />

Gita are very much similar to the Christian teach<strong>in</strong>gs, attempts<br />

are be<strong>in</strong>g made to prove that Christ is a copycat of Krishna.<br />

Apart from the similarity of teach<strong>in</strong>gs, people began to discover<br />

some pragmatic similarity between the life stories. In the very<br />

recent times, it was even suggested that Krishna was<br />

crucified!!. In this chapter, we <strong>in</strong>vestigate these similarities and<br />

differences. While the teach<strong>in</strong>gs of Krishan follow closely the<br />

teach<strong>in</strong>gs of Christ, the life of Krishna is totally at divergence<br />

with that of Christ.<br />

Krishna is a mythical character and not a historical person.<br />

Even the name Krishna is of recent orig<strong>in</strong>. Krishna is of an<br />

amalgamation of various characters old and new – <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g<br />

Christ – and attributed to some petty K<strong>in</strong>g who wanted to be<br />

God.<br />

Krishna was the eighth Avatar or <strong>in</strong>carnation of the god Vishnu, one of<br />

the H<strong>in</strong>du Tr<strong>in</strong>ity. In this <strong>in</strong>carnation Vishnu, it is said, "appeared <strong>in</strong> all<br />

the fullness of his power and glory." His mother was Devaki. He is<br />

believed to be a historical character, but his real history, is entirely<br />

obscured by myths. He is claimed to have been lived from 900 to 1,200<br />

years before the Christian era. But there is no evidence to any such<br />

historical person. The only evidences are the stories found <strong>in</strong> the<br />
