Parthenium Weed<br />

Description: A branched, pale green, erect herb to 150 cm<br />

tall.<br />

flowers: Flower heads creamy white, 4-10 mm diameter,<br />

found in clusters at the top of branches between January and<br />

June, depending on conditions.<br />

leaves: Deeply divided and covered in soft white hairs. Pale<br />

green and alternate. Base leaves to 20 cm and stem leaves<br />

smaller, all with many segments.<br />

stems: Erect, branched in the upper half and hairy with<br />

vertical grooves.<br />

Note: A prolific seeder and aggressive coloniser producing<br />

15,000 seeds per plant per year. Can cause health problems<br />

such as dermatitis and asthma in some people.<br />

similar Native species: Unlikely to be confused with native<br />

species.<br />
