Legislative Requirements<br />

In Victoria, Declared Noxious <strong>Weeds</strong> are classified<br />

as State Prohibited, Regionally Prohibited, Regionally<br />

Controlled and Restricted.<br />

State Prohibited <strong>Weeds</strong><br />

State Prohibited <strong>Weeds</strong> either; do not yet occur in Victoria<br />

but pose a significant threat if they were to invade, or are<br />

present, pose a significant threat and it is reasonable to<br />

expect that they can be eradicated from the State.<br />

Control of State Prohibited <strong>Weeds</strong> is the responsibility of<br />

DPI wherever they occur across the State.<br />

Regionally Prohibited <strong>Weeds</strong><br />

Regionally Prohibited <strong>Weeds</strong> are not widely distributed<br />

across the region but are capable of spreading further.<br />

It is reasonable to expect that these weeds can be<br />

eradicated from the region.<br />

Control is the responsibility of both public and private<br />

land managers on their land and Vic Roads on Declared<br />

Roads under the Victorian Transport Act 1983, and DPI on<br />

roadsides.<br />

Regionally Controlled <strong>Weeds</strong><br />

Regionally Controlled <strong>Weeds</strong> exist in the region and are<br />

usually widespread. Continued control measures are<br />

required to prevent further spread to clean land.<br />

Control is the responsibility of both public and private land<br />

managers on their land and Vic Roads on Declared Roads<br />

under the Victorian Transport Act 1983.<br />
