SEE Don’t miss the Escalade annual celebration of Geneva’s victory against an attack by Savoyard soldiers on 11–13 December. Each year a large, torchbearing procession, dressed in period costume, proceeds through the dark streets of the old city. GO Geneva’s Old Town is packed with antique shops, galleries, chic boutiques and bistros. St Peter’s Cathedral has fantastic views from its north tower and the pretty Place du Bourg de Four is the city’s oldest square. ESCAPE Just over 90 minutes from Geneva, the gorgeous alpine resort of Nendaz, in the heart of the 4 Vallées ski domain, offers 412km of ski runs across varied terrain and 92 ski lifts.
