Bar Tomate
MADRID
Located in the heart of the upscale
Chamberí district, just an olive-stone’s
throw from Plaza de Colón, this
Mediterranean kitchen bar serves an
“anytime” menu. Bhutan potatoes,
sautéed artichokes or asparagus in
rosemary sauce whet the appetite. Many
of the main courses mix sweet and
sour, including the honey-baked lamb
carpaccio and truffl e cannelloni with
beetroot and raspberry cream sauce.
Split into two distinct zones, Tomate
can be light and spacious, Scandinavian
style or dark and moody by night in the
polished concrete bar area. The dining
space has a market warehouse feel
with steel chairs, leather-topped tables
and 1950s-era lamps inspired by the
minimalist French designer Jean Prouvé.
