4.3. BURNOUT IN THE HUNGARIAN AND SWEDISH NURSES In this study it was assumed that since there are differences in the hospital organization, the hospital management, the hospital equipment etc. between Hungarian and Swedish hospitals, where Hungary is suffering from a deterioration in the hospitals policy-making, financing, management, service structure, patient’s rights etc. (Piko, 1999), it would contribute to higher burnout in the Hungarian nurses than in the Swedish ones. The means of the burnout subcscales were compared between the Hungarian and Swedish nurses. The means and standard deviations showed that the Hungarian nurses had higher levels of emotional exhaustion (Mean= 22.4, SD= 10.96), depersonalization (Mean= 6.6, SD= 5.36), and lower levels of personal accomplishment (Mean= 32.1, SD= 6.72) (see Table 4 below and Table 5 in APPENDIX C, and Diagram 8 below). APPENDIX 3); a robust Welch-test for comparison between the burnout scores was used instead (see Table 6 below and Table 8 in APPENDIX C). .
