that made this project possible. The five (5) longest drives in 1998<br />

occurred during the ATdS <strong>an</strong>d were accomplished within the voltage-cut<strong>of</strong>f<br />

guideline. The good showing w<strong>as</strong> indicative that this year the ALAB car<br />

would run better that in previous years.<br />

Following the 1998 ATdS, the ALAB car w<strong>as</strong> running well <strong>an</strong>d data<br />

gathering resumed from daily commuting <strong>an</strong>d work trips in the ALAB car.<br />

Data were recorded from instrument <strong>an</strong>d battery-m<strong>an</strong>agement system output<br />

daily in accord<strong>an</strong>ce with our research work pl<strong>an</strong> requirements.<br />

Periodically, in<strong>for</strong>mation w<strong>as</strong> posted to the project Web Site (see<br />

Appendix B).<br />

During this period the vehicle w<strong>as</strong> used <strong>for</strong> commuting <strong>an</strong>d work<br />

trips. One routine work trip is from the Hart<strong>for</strong>d area to the<br />

University <strong>of</strong> Connecticut (UConn). A common route <strong>for</strong> a portion <strong>of</strong> this<br />

trip is Interstate I-384. The speed limit in this 8.5-mile Interstate<br />
