BOOK ONE — INTRODUCTION<br />
seeds behind it. <strong>The</strong> popular equation <strong>of</strong> “Jews & Bolshevik are <strong>the</strong> Same,” alleged to be<br />
unjustified by <strong>The</strong> Jews <strong>the</strong>mselves, made <strong>the</strong> situation more delicate for <strong>The</strong> Jew — who looked<br />
upon Christians and o<strong>the</strong>r non-Jews as mere goyim, or unclean cattle, mere talking animals, in<br />
need <strong>of</strong> care and herding; and that same situation was even more trying for <strong>The</strong> Christian — in<br />
whose mind <strong>the</strong>re was <strong>the</strong> conflict between <strong>the</strong> popular beliefs <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Good Jew as <strong>the</strong> Origins <strong>of</strong><br />
Christianity versus <strong>the</strong> Bad Jew who was responsible for not any mere “sentiment” but actual<br />
anti-Christian acts accomplished in secret by those same Jews, brought to <strong>the</strong> Light through <strong>the</strong><br />
diligence attention and investigation <strong>of</strong> those Christians (and non-Jews) aware <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Jewish<br />
threat to a stable Christian life. In every country in Old Europe, <strong>the</strong> <strong>Protocols</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Elders</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>Zion</strong>, purporting as <strong>the</strong> Jews repeatedly say to reveal in a series <strong>of</strong> fantastic documents<br />
mysteriously discovering a “Jewish plot” to secure <strong>the</strong> domination <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> entire world, had<br />
considerable circulation and secured credence in social and political circles which were not<br />
usually so gullible as to accept anything that was to be looked upon as far-fetched. 151/<br />
“It took lies and forgeries,” says this Jewish document, “which had been proved fake in<br />
Europe, like <strong>the</strong> <strong>Protocols</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Elders</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Zion</strong>, but a short time to germinate and spread to<br />
America.” [See n.__?] Yet, unexplained by anyone is this: If such utterances and publications<br />
were in fact “lies and fakes,” why should <strong>the</strong>y endure <strong>the</strong> years as “truth and fact” for so many<br />
peoples in so many lands — most <strong>of</strong> which have suffered a fate as near to <strong>the</strong> inclinations <strong>of</strong> <strong>The</strong><br />
<strong>Protocols</strong> as any reasonable person can determine — especially when <strong>the</strong> Reader <strong>of</strong> <strong>The</strong> Present<br />
Day News Media compares that Media Reportings to <strong>The</strong> <strong>Protocols</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Elders</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Zion</strong>, doing<br />
so equally and “liberally” and with a sense <strong>of</strong> universal bro<strong>the</strong>rhood <strong>of</strong> righteousness, can arrive<br />
at no o<strong>the</strong>r conclusion but that <strong>the</strong> principles <strong>of</strong> <strong>The</strong> <strong>Protocols</strong> are true, and that <strong>the</strong>y are a fact?<br />
Part 19.<br />
SOME BRIEF DEFINITIONS OF WORDS USED<br />
BY THE “JEWISH” AUTHOR OF THE PROTOCOLS<br />
“Agentur” and “<strong>The</strong> Political”<br />
<strong>The</strong>re are two words in this translation <strong>of</strong> <strong>The</strong> <strong>Protocols</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Learned</strong> <strong>Elders</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Zion</strong><br />
which are unusual, <strong>the</strong> words “Agentur” and “<strong>the</strong> political.”<br />
Used as a substantive (or, noun), “Agentur” appears to be a word adopted from <strong>the</strong><br />
original text <strong>of</strong> <strong>The</strong> <strong>Protocols</strong>, and it means ‘<strong>the</strong> whole body <strong>of</strong> agents, and agencies’ made use<br />
<strong>of</strong> by <strong>The</strong> <strong>Elders</strong>, whe<strong>the</strong>r members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> tribe or <strong>the</strong>ir Gentile tools.<br />
By “<strong>the</strong> Political,” Mr. Marsden means, not exactly <strong>the</strong> “body politic,” but ‘<strong>the</strong> entire<br />
machinery <strong>of</strong> politics.’<br />
<strong>The</strong> Term, GOYIM<br />
<strong>The</strong> Jewish term Goyim, generally meaning Gentiles or non-Jews, is used throughout <strong>The</strong><br />
<strong>Protocols</strong>, and “Goyim” is retained by Mr. Nilus and Mr. Marsden in this edition and translation.<br />
Goy and Goyim are defined in <strong>the</strong> text <strong>of</strong> <strong>The</strong> <strong>Protocols</strong> as <strong>the</strong>y appear. Many cites, perhaps<br />
later, confirm that goyim also means “cattle, beast <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> field,” etc. It explains much.<br />
O<strong>the</strong>r terms are <strong>of</strong>ten defined as <strong>the</strong>y appear in <strong>Book</strong> Two, <strong>the</strong> “Annotated Text.”<br />
