The University of Technology of Brno (www.vutbr.cz) has carried<br />

out the systematic education of experts in road transport and<br />

engineering since 1969; later on, economics was added – valuation<br />

of properties and establishment of claim amount. Since<br />

then, the Institute for Forensic Engineering of the University of<br />

Technology of Brno (www.usi.vutbr.cz) has prepared 566 forensic<br />

specialists who attended 22 postgraduate courses specialised<br />

in road accident analysis. Within the framework of its scientific<br />

activities and per order of the Ministry of Justice, the Institute<br />

developed standards for expert proceedings carried out when<br />

analysing road accidents, valuation of motor vehicles and establishment<br />

of claim damage. The courses are organised by virtue of<br />

the Ministry of Justice and are interdisciplinary in nature. In order<br />

to obtain a special qualification so that the evaluations can be<br />

used for legal purposes, the syllabus also includes selected parts<br />

of jurisdiction, forensic medicine, economics and necessary fields<br />

of technology.<br />
