Immunoprofile<br />

Immunohistochemistry shows that the<br />

spindle cells, which look like smooth<br />

muscle have strong reactions with antibodies<br />

to actins and to desmin. The<br />

nuclei of the spindle cells also frequently<br />

react with antibodies to estrogen and<br />

progesterone receptors {35}. The<br />

epithelial elements react with antibodies<br />

to a variety of cytokeratins and often<br />

vimentin. They occasionally react with<br />

antibody to estrogen receptor.<br />

Genetics<br />

Little is known of the genetics of these<br />

tumours except that they lack the translocation<br />

characteristic of cellular congenital<br />

mesoblastic nephroma {2073}.<br />
