HAMPTON PLANNING BOARD<br />

In 1 991 <strong>the</strong> <strong>Hampton</strong> Planning Board met 21 times and held 27 public<br />

hearings along with o<strong>the</strong>r proposals, consisting <strong>of</strong> use change requests,<br />

letters <strong>of</strong> credit, zoning ordinance changes and expanding commercial<br />

buildings. The Board's revenue was $4,603.00.<br />

The Board consists <strong>of</strong> seven members, six elected and <strong>the</strong> seventh is an<br />

ex-<strong>of</strong>ficio member from <strong>the</strong> Board <strong>of</strong> Selectmen. The Board meets usually<br />

twice per month but held only one meeting during <strong>the</strong> months <strong>of</strong> April, May,<br />

July and October due to budget constraints. Public hearings are held <strong>the</strong> first<br />

Wednesday <strong>of</strong> each month which consist <strong>of</strong> ei<strong>the</strong>r a subdivision, site plan<br />

review or lot line revision. The Board's work session meeting is held on <strong>the</strong><br />

third Wednesday <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> month, where plans are again reviewed and ei<strong>the</strong>r<br />

approved, denied or tabled.<br />

Ray Hutchinson remains <strong>the</strong> liaison from <strong>the</strong> Building Inspection Department,<br />

keeping <strong>the</strong> Board up-to-date with items <strong>the</strong> Board should be aware<br />

<strong>of</strong> or deal with, and Sandra Nickerson has been <strong>the</strong> Board's Secretary for<br />

<strong>the</strong> past twelve years. *<br />

The <strong>Town</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Hampton</strong> is a member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Rockingham Planning<br />

Commission and part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Board's budget pays for membership dues and<br />

contract costs for <strong>the</strong> Circuit Rider Program. Steven Bird serves as <strong>the</strong><br />

Board's Regional Planner and is in <strong>the</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice on Tuesday afternoons from<br />

1 :00-5:00 P.M. Steven also attends <strong>the</strong> monthly meetings. As a member <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> Commission, <strong>the</strong> <strong>Town</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Hampton</strong> is entitled to have three Commis-<br />

Commissioners from <strong>the</strong> <strong>Town</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Hampton</strong> are John<br />

sioners serve on it.<br />

The Board dealt with a number <strong>of</strong> dredge-and-fill permits from <strong>the</strong> State<br />

Wetlands Board, a number <strong>of</strong> letters <strong>of</strong> credit for projects ei<strong>the</strong>r in<br />

development or for approved development, conditionally approved plans<br />

and a multitude <strong>of</strong> correspondence.<br />

The Board extends its sincere appreciation to Owen G. Carter who was<br />

a valued member for many years and was unable to complete his term <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>of</strong>fice and to J. Michael VanCantfort who also resigned as a member.<br />

I wish to thank everyone associated with <strong>the</strong> Board, Department Heads,<br />

o<strong>the</strong>r Boards and Commissions for <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

during my year as Chairman.<br />
