Article I.<br />

FELLOWSHIP<br />

Fellowship in the <strong>Academy</strong> (hereafter Fellowship) is limited to persons who fall<br />

within the following classes as defined in 1.2:<br />

(1) Fellow;<br />

(2) Judicial Fellow;<br />

(3) Non-Practicing Fellow; and<br />

(4) Associate Fellow<br />

Fellows in all classes must be and remain in good standing in their own<br />

jurisdiction and with any international pr<strong>of</strong>essional organisation <strong>of</strong> which they are<br />

members.<br />

Fellows in all classes must demonstrate an active interest and competence in<br />

matrimonial law as evidenced by the fulfilment <strong>of</strong> criteria and standards<br />

established from time to time by the Board <strong>of</strong> Admissions <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Academy</strong><br />

(hereafter Board <strong>of</strong> Admissions) and the Board <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Academy</strong> (hereafter<br />

Board).<br />

A Fellow is one who is at the time <strong>of</strong> admission and who at the time <strong>of</strong> renewal<br />

<strong>of</strong> annual membership remains, in full time legal practice, a significant part <strong>of</strong><br />

whose work is matrimonial law, including an international component.<br />

A Judicial Fellow is a former Fellow <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Academy</strong> who is no longer practicing<br />

law because <strong>of</strong> an appointment to the judiciary.<br />

A Non-Practicing Fellow is a former Fellow <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Academy</strong> who is no longer<br />

practicing law and is not a Judicial Fellow.<br />

An Associate Fellow is a lawyer by education or pr<strong>of</strong>essional qualification who<br />

does not practice matrimonial law but who has made and is making a major<br />

contribution to international matrimonial law.<br />

The terms ‘in full time legal practice’ and ‘a significant part <strong>of</strong> which is<br />

matrimonial law, including an international component’ shall be defined by<br />

standards established from time to time by the Board <strong>of</strong> Admissions and the<br />

Board.<br />

Hereafter the terms ‘Fellow’ and ‘Fellows’ refer to all classes <strong>of</strong> Fellow.<br />

Admission as a Fellow shall be by invitation only.<br />
