Applications for admission shall be forwarded to prospective applicants on<br />

request.<br />

All submitted applications become the property <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Academy</strong> and shall not be<br />

returned to the applicant.<br />

Upon receipt <strong>of</strong> the completed application and any required non-refundable<br />

application fee, the Board <strong>of</strong> Admissions shall make any further inquiry that it<br />

deems appropriate.<br />

An application from an applicant who practices law within a country or<br />

international region which has a Chapter must be referred to the Chapter’s<br />

Board <strong>of</strong> Admissions for its recommendation; the recommendation <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Chapter’s Board <strong>of</strong> Admissions will be submitted as soon as reasonably<br />

practicable to the full Board <strong>of</strong> Admissions.<br />

1.4 ELECTION TO FELLOWSHIP<br />

1.5 PRIVILEGES<br />

Within a reasonable time, the Board <strong>of</strong> Admissions shall take final action upon<br />

each application; and notify each applicant accordingly.<br />

Upon acceptance <strong>of</strong> an invitation to join any class <strong>of</strong> Fellowship, the Board <strong>of</strong><br />

Admissions shall notify the President, Secretary and Treasurer <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Academy</strong><br />

and the President <strong>of</strong> the relevant Chapter, as appropriate, and such notification<br />

shall constitute entry upon the Fellowship rolls.<br />

Each Fellow, regardless <strong>of</strong> classification, shall be entitled to the honours and<br />

privileges accorded to all Fellows, except Associate Fellows may not hold elective or<br />

appointive <strong>of</strong>fice.<br />

1.6 EVIDENCE OF FELLOWSHIP<br />

The Board may provide for the form, style and the issue <strong>of</strong> a certificate or plaque<br />

evidencing each class <strong>of</strong> Fellow.<br />

After an applicant is accepted for any class <strong>of</strong> Fellowship and has paid any<br />

required initiation fee and dues, evidence <strong>of</strong> such Fellowship, in the form<br />

approved from time to time by the Board, shall be issued and sent to the new<br />

Fellow by the Executive Director.<br />

Any certificate or plaque shall:<br />

(1) be signed by the President and Secretary;<br />

(2) be sealed with the seal <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Academy</strong>;<br />

(3) contain the name <strong>of</strong> the Fellow to whom it is to be issued and the date<br />

on which the Fellow’s name was entered on the <strong>Academy</strong> records.<br />

If a certificate or plaque becomes lost, damaged or destroyed, a duplicate may<br />

be issued upon such terms and conditions as the Board may determine.<br />

All certificates or plaques evidencing Fellowship are the property <strong>of</strong> the<br />

<strong>Academy</strong> and shall be returned on demand.<br />
