1.7 DUES AND ASSESSMENTS<br />
Dues and assessments may be required from all Fellows in such amounts as fixed by<br />
the Board. Fellows who are members <strong>of</strong> a Chapter may be required to pay additional<br />
dues, set by the Board <strong>of</strong> Managers <strong>of</strong> the Chapter and approved by the Board (see<br />
also 2.3 a below).<br />
1.8 GOOD STANDING<br />
Unless terminated or disciplined under 1.9 below all Fellows are continued in good<br />
standing by the payment <strong>of</strong> dues and assessments which have been set by or<br />
approved by the Board under 1.7.<br />
1.9 TERMINATION AND DISCIPLINE<br />

Upon removal <strong>of</strong> a Fellow’s name from the rolls <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Academy</strong> all Fellowship<br />
privileges shall end and that person’s Fellowship shall be terminated.<br />
The name <strong>of</strong> any Fellow shall be removed from the rolls <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Academy</strong> upon<br />
such Fellow’s termination <strong>of</strong> such Fellowship, resignation, death, disbarment or<br />
during any period <strong>of</strong> suspension from practice or loss <strong>of</strong> privilege or license to<br />
practice. All Fellows shall notify the Secretary when any <strong>of</strong> these events occur to<br />
them or when it comes to their attention that they have occurred to another<br />
Fellow.<br />
The name <strong>of</strong> all Fellows whose dues or assessments have not been paid within<br />
ninety days after mailing <strong>of</strong> the original bill shall be removed from the rolls <strong>of</strong> the<br />
<strong>Academy</strong>.<br />
Following a recommendation <strong>of</strong> the Board <strong>of</strong> Review for the discipline <strong>of</strong> a<br />
Fellow, as provided for in 8.2, the Board shall meet in closed session and hold a<br />
confidential review <strong>of</strong> the transcript <strong>of</strong> hearing, if any, and <strong>of</strong> any documentary<br />
evidence presented to the Board <strong>of</strong> Review, and may then terminate, suspend,<br />
or otherwise discipline a Fellow for:<br />
(1) conduct deemed injurious to the good order, peace, reputation or best<br />
interests <strong>of</strong> the legal pr<strong>of</strong>ession or the <strong>Academy</strong>;<br />
(2) any other good cause which the Board deems sufficient.<br />
Any decision by the Board in relation to a recommendation <strong>of</strong> the Board <strong>of</strong><br />
Fellows for discipline <strong>of</strong> a Fellow must be by affirmative vote <strong>of</strong> at least twothirds<br />
<strong>of</strong> the members <strong>of</strong> the Board present.<br />
During any period <strong>of</strong> suspension imposed as a matter <strong>of</strong> discipline, the Fellow<br />
may not<br />
(1) vote;<br />
(2) participate in any election;<br />
(3) stand for election or appointment to any <strong>of</strong>fice, committee or activity;<br />
(4) continue to act in an elected or appointive capacity;<br />
(5) speak or purport to speak on behalf <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Academy</strong> or a Chapter <strong>of</strong> the<br />
<strong>Academy</strong>;<br />
(6) hold him or herself as a Fellow in good standing<br />
