3.3.2.3. The effect of protein molecular mass on the chromatographic behavior
Other component in evaluating the experimental data obtained after 2-D gel electrophoresis is
the potential relationship between protein molecular weight and elution behavior, as a
function of elution position and adsorbent type. In a previous report, molecular mass of the
protein has not shown any correlation with protein retention in ion exchange chromatography
(19). However, the effect of molecular mass was reported in HIC using the retention time of
the model proteins (33). A few model proteins were used for the analysis which may not give
a complete picture of all the contributing parameters involved in protein retention. In this
