The ligands are usually attached to toyopearl ®<br />
base support by glycidyl ether coupling<br />
procedures. This procedure introduces a short spacer arm to minimize steric hindrance. At the<br />
start, HIC was a slow technique; rapid separation has been made possible by the introduction<br />
of micro particulate semi rigid supports (Toyopearl®) (101). This revealed the importance of<br />
toyopearl adsorbents at the industrial level. The physicochemical properties of the adsorbents<br />
are given in Table 3 (99). The three hydrophobic adsorbents of 65-100 µm bead sizes were<br />
selected for this study, which is the most suitable range for industrial scale purification. The<br />
hydrophobic charm of the ligands was narrated before with toyopearl as a common base<br />
support. However, the previous reports were based on the retention time of few model<br />
proteins and have been never studied with the biological mixtures. Hence, it was planned to<br />
