Local Government Association <strong>of</strong> NSW Annual Conference<br />

SUMMARY<br />

Reporting that <strong>the</strong> Local Government Association Annual Conference will be held in<br />

Dubbo from 28-30 October <strong>2012</strong>.<br />

<strong>2012</strong>. 285 RESOLVED: Moved: Cl. Campbell<br />

That <strong>Council</strong> not attend <strong>the</strong> Local Government Association Conference.<br />

RECOMMENDATION IMPLICATIONS<br />

Environmental, Social: Nil<br />

Economic (Financial): By not attending <strong>the</strong> conference, as previously resolved,<br />

<strong>the</strong> <strong>Council</strong> will have <strong>the</strong> following funds to reallocate to o<strong>the</strong>r uses. Projected costs<br />

are:<br />

Registration per delegate $1,155 $1,155<br />

Accommodation ($100 per night x 3 nights per person) 300<br />

Travel in <strong>Council</strong> vehicle 300<br />

Total per delegate $1,755<br />

Policy or Statutory: <strong>Council</strong> previously resolved to consider attendance once <strong>the</strong><br />

conference agenda became available.<br />

REPORT DETAILS<br />

The agenda and motions for <strong>the</strong> Local Government Association Conference has<br />

been provided to councils and in line with <strong>the</strong> previous resolution <strong>of</strong> <strong>Council</strong> a<br />

decision has to be made as to whe<strong>the</strong>r <strong>the</strong> <strong>Council</strong> will be represented.<br />

Value can be gained from <strong>the</strong> conference through:<br />

insights and information provided from sessions held at <strong>the</strong> conference<br />

ability to change <strong>the</strong> outcome <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> vote on matters before <strong>the</strong> conference; or<br />

insights and information picked up through networking with o<strong>the</strong>r delegates.<br />

As an associate member, Kempsey Shire <strong>Council</strong> has two votes on any matter<br />

brought before <strong>the</strong> Association. The matters to be considered by <strong>the</strong> conference are<br />

available on <strong>the</strong> conference web site:<br />

and councillors can review <strong>the</strong>se to determine if <strong>the</strong>re is seen as merit in attending<br />
