General Manager‟s Recommendation:<br />

1 That <strong>the</strong> councillors nominate to <strong>Council</strong> committees:<br />

The Mayor and one councillor to <strong>the</strong> Australia Day Committee.<br />

The Mayor and two councillors to <strong>the</strong> General Manager‟s<br />

Performance Review Panel.<br />

2 That <strong>the</strong> councillors nominate to working parties:<br />

b<br />

One councillor and an alternative delegate be appointed to <strong>the</strong><br />

Natural Resources Working Group.<br />

One councillor and an alternative delegate be appointed to <strong>the</strong><br />

Saleyards Advisory Group.<br />

3 That <strong>the</strong> <strong>Council</strong> appoint a delegate to <strong>the</strong> following external groups:<br />

a<br />

b<br />

c<br />

d<br />

Bush Fire Management Committee.<br />

Melville Community Centre Management Committee.<br />

Mid North Coast Regional Arts Board.<br />

Mid North Coast Regional Weeds Advisory Committee.<br />

4 That <strong>the</strong> Mayor be retained as <strong>the</strong> delegate to <strong>the</strong> following<br />

committees:<br />

a<br />

b<br />

Community Development and Support Expenditure Committee.<br />

Local Traffic Committee.<br />

5 That <strong>the</strong> existing committee structure be retained until ano<strong>the</strong>r report<br />

comes back to <strong>Council</strong> to review <strong>the</strong> structure.<br />

RECOMMENDATION IMPLICATIONS<br />

Environmental, Social: Nil<br />

Policy or Statutory: Policy 5.2 – Committees <strong>of</strong> <strong>Council</strong> applies to this<br />

recommendation. Clause 2.6 <strong>of</strong> CPOL-46 – Payment <strong>of</strong> Expenses and Provision <strong>of</strong><br />

Facilities to <strong>the</strong> Mayor and <strong>Council</strong>lors, also applies to <strong>the</strong> financial implications.<br />

Economic (Financial): Delegates appointed to <strong>the</strong> various committees or groups<br />

can claim travel expenses relating to <strong>the</strong> <strong>meeting</strong>s. These costs are allowed for in<br />

<strong>the</strong> budget for councillors‟ travel.<br />

REPORT DETAILS<br />

Committees can be formed for a number <strong>of</strong> reasons. They will generally fall under<br />

<strong>the</strong> following types:<br />

1) Advisory Committees to <strong>Council</strong>: These are committees that <strong>the</strong> councillors will<br />

establish to assist <strong>the</strong>m in <strong>the</strong>ir role as a councillor by seeking a wider<br />

participation prior to a matter being determined by <strong>the</strong> councillors. They are<br />

considered best suited to specific issues where a wider range <strong>of</strong> experience or<br />
