3 That <strong>Council</strong> conduct a workshop and invite DALMA to attend and<br />

advise on <strong>the</strong> development <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Aboriginal Reconciliation Action<br />

Plan.<br />

<strong>2012</strong>. 287 The AMENDMENT was PUT to <strong>the</strong> MEETING and was CARRIED, became <strong>the</strong><br />

MOTION and was CARRIED.<br />

1 That <strong>Council</strong> invite Aboriginal organisations to participate in <strong>the</strong><br />

review <strong>of</strong> Community Strategic Plan.<br />

2 That <strong>Council</strong> ensure Aboriginal organisations are aware <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

community consultation process associated with State Planning<br />

proposals.<br />

3 That <strong>Council</strong>‟s consultants for <strong>the</strong> South Kempsey Project be invited<br />

to review <strong>the</strong> progress report for <strong>the</strong> Aboriginal Affairs Policy.<br />

4 That <strong>Council</strong>‟s delegates to <strong>the</strong> Local Government and Shires<br />

Association (LGSA) Conference in October <strong>2012</strong> be provided with <strong>the</strong><br />

recommendations from Grafton Network Conference.<br />

5 That <strong>Council</strong> consider <strong>the</strong> re-establishment <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Aboriginal<br />

Consultative Committee.<br />

6 That an invitation be extended to Mr James Christian PSM State<br />

Manager NSW / ACT Network to visit <strong>Council</strong> in respect to <strong>the</strong><br />

Commonwealth Regional Partnerships Program.<br />

7 That a report be submitted to <strong>the</strong> next <strong>meeting</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Council</strong> outlining<br />

<strong>the</strong> current situation with <strong>the</strong> provisions for Aboriginal people in<br />

<strong>Council</strong>‟s Delivery Program 2010-2015 and <strong>the</strong> Community Strategic<br />

Plan with consideration for <strong>the</strong> preparation <strong>of</strong> an Aboriginal<br />

Community Plan.<br />

8 That <strong>the</strong> Aboriginal community be included in consideration <strong>of</strong> a<br />

Community Policing Program.<br />

9 That <strong>Council</strong> investigate opportunities to support <strong>the</strong> development <strong>of</strong><br />

Aboriginal culture within <strong>the</strong> Macleay Valley to attract appropriate<br />

funding from <strong>the</strong> State and Federal Government.<br />

RECOMMENDATION IMPLICATIONS<br />

Environmental, Economic (Financial), Policy or Statutory: Nil<br />

Social: The development <strong>of</strong> an Aboriginal Community Plan in conjunction with <strong>the</strong><br />

review <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Community Strategic Plan will serve to identify key areas <strong>of</strong> need,<br />

prioritising and identifying possible strategies, particularly those issues identified in<br />

<strong>the</strong> draft Aboriginal Affairs Policy.<br />

REPORT DETAILS<br />

150 Delegates from centres throughout NSW were in attendance, with <strong>the</strong> <strong>of</strong>ficial<br />

opening performed by <strong>Council</strong>lor Rod Towney <strong>of</strong> Dubbo City <strong>Council</strong> and President<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> NSW Local Government Aboriginal Network.<br />
