Crankshaft and crankcase<br />

Push the crankcase halves together and<br />

tighten the crankcase screws.<br />

Place the clutch side’s crankcase half<br />

over the crankshaft.<br />

Position the crankcase screws to prevent<br />

the gasket from sliding out of position.<br />

Push the crankcase halves together with<br />

tool 502 50 30-10.<br />

Tighten all the crankcase screws.<br />

Check that the crankshaft rotates easily.<br />

Lubricate the shaft journals with a few<br />

drops of oil and fit the seals.<br />

If not, tap the shaft journals a few times<br />

with a plastic mallet to release any tension.<br />

On old model crankcases, the cylinder cover screw is screwed directly into the casting.<br />

The threads may be damaged as time passes. Repair bushing No. 503 27 35-99 can<br />

then be installed instead of replacing the entire crankcase.<br />

Drill out the hole in 3 stages, using drills of Ø 7 mm, Ø 8 mm and Ø 9 mm.<br />
