Problem: Arsenic levels exceed the USEPA Maximum Contaminant Limit (MCL), and engineering work is<br />

needed to design two arsenic treatment plants. Also, the Sunland Park Wastewater Treatment<br />

Plant needs to be rehabilitated along with lift stations and manholes throughout the collection<br />

system.<br />

Solution: The majority of the funds are going toward engineering design and construction oversight for the<br />

arsenic treatment plants. A failing lift station has been rehabilitated, and funds<br />

kind match for BECC funding. Fund is primarily committed to the Arsenic Treatment Facilities (one currently near<br />

the end of construction - 6/30/11) and the Ranchos Del Rio Lift Station Rehabilitation Project (completed June<br />

2011). Project nearing completion of the first phase. Have not received closeout documents as of 11/4/11. SD The<br />

first arsenic treatment plant is complete and on line. The second is still in design. And, NMED Legal is looking at the<br />

control of this grant; whether the funds can be given to the Camino Real Regional Utility Authority (CRRUA) or not.<br />

SD 7/9/12 These funds have been transferred to CRRUA, and a contract is nearly complete to be obligated and<br />
