<strong>Annual</strong> <strong>Town</strong> Meeting Minutes<br />

For April 30 th and May 1st, <strong>2012</strong><br />

Meeting convened at 1:00 p.m. on April 30, <strong>2012</strong>. Municipal Elections held (494 voters).<br />

Meeting re-convened from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on May 1, <strong>2012</strong> (166 voters).<br />

ELECTIONS – MONDAY, APRIL 30TH FROM 1:15 P.M. TO 7:00 P.M.<br />

Article 1. John Morse IV was elected moderator to preside at <strong>Town</strong> Meeting.<br />

Article 2. The following <strong>of</strong>ficers were elected:<br />

Selectman, Assessor, Overseer (3 year term)<br />

Road Commissioner (3 year term)<br />

Budget Committee (3 year term)<br />

Article 3. Article failed by a tie vote <strong>of</strong> 236 to 236. Shall an Ordinance entitled “<strong>Town</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>Phippsburg</strong>, Maine Land Use Ordinance, April 30, <strong>2012</strong>” be enacted?<br />

BUSINESS MEETING - TUESDAY, MAY 1 ST FROM 6:30 P.M. TO 9:30 P.M.<br />

Announcements<br />

Moderator John Morse introduced State Representative Kim Olsen and State Senator Seth<br />

Goodall who were in attendance.<br />

Moderator John Morse mentioned that the Conservation Commission has a questionnaire on<br />

the handout table and in the <strong>Town</strong> <strong>Report</strong> that they would like citizens to complete.<br />

Marie Varian was congratulated for receiving the Maine Municipal Association’s coveted<br />

“Ethel N. Kelly” award for her many years <strong>of</strong> volunteer service to the <strong>Town</strong>.<br />

Selectman Read presented prior Selectman Lawrence Pye with an appreciation plaque for<br />

his 6 years <strong>of</strong> dedicated service to the <strong>Town</strong>.<br />

Moderator John Morse announced the election results.<br />

GENERAL GOVERNMENT<br />

Article 4. It was voted to authorize the Board <strong>of</strong> Selectmen to accept gifts and donations, including<br />

monetary, on behalf <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Town</strong> and to expend/use the gifts and donations, including<br />

monetary, for the purpose for which they were donated.<br />
