DISBURSEMENT ORDINANCE<br />
MAY 7, 2013<br />
This ordinance is enacted pursuant to 30-A M.R.S.A. §§ 3001 (municipal home rule) and 5603<br />
(2) (A).<br />
Section 2. Purpose<br />
Disbursement Ordinance - Warrant Article #21<br />
The purpose <strong>of</strong> this ordinance is to provide an alternative to the statutory procedure for approval<br />
<strong>of</strong> warrants authorizing the Treasurer to disburse money.<br />
Section 3. Procedure for approval <strong>of</strong> Warrants.<br />
The Treasurer may disburse money only on the authority <strong>of</strong> a warrant drawn for the purpose<br />
which is:<br />
affirmatively voted and signed by a majority <strong>of</strong> the municipal <strong>of</strong>ficers at a duly called<br />
public meeting; or<br />
seen and signed by a majority <strong>of</strong> them acting individually and separately; or<br />
signed as otherwise provided by law for the disbursement <strong>of</strong> employees’ wages and<br />
benefits and payment <strong>of</strong> municipal education costs; or<br />
for the release <strong>of</strong> State <strong>of</strong> Maine funds collected by the <strong>Town</strong> on behalf <strong>of</strong> the State <strong>of</strong><br />
Maine (i.e. Department <strong>of</strong> Motor Vehicle, Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, Maine Department<br />
<strong>of</strong> Agriculture), any one <strong>of</strong> the municipal <strong>of</strong>ficers, acting alone, may review, approve,<br />
and sign such warrant.<br />
