Norman T. Nickerson<br />

December 20, 1935 - December 6, <strong>2012</strong><br />

Norman is back left<br />

Norman joined the United States Army and was stationed in Germany where he proudly served our country.<br />

Upon returning to the states, he was employed as a <strong>Phippsburg</strong> school bus driver, and began his journey as a<br />

long-haul truck driver working for Bisson. He soon purchased his own truck,”Betsy” and became self-employed. A<br />

few years later he retired “Betsy” and purchased “Katie” until retiring at the age <strong>of</strong> 62.<br />

Not being able to sit still, Norman worked at the Hermit Island Campground for many summers. He was also a<br />

skilled carpenter and woodsman. Norman was a longtime member <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Phippsburg</strong> Fire Department as a volunteer<br />

fireman.<br />

Donald I. Wallace<br />

January 26, 1922 -<br />

December 31, <strong>2012</strong><br />

Don serviced in the United States Army from 1940 to 1944 during World War II. He was a member <strong>of</strong> the<br />

83rd Airborne Infantry and received a purple heart during the Battle <strong>of</strong> the Bulge.<br />

Don loved the open sea and spent much <strong>of</strong> his life dragging and lobstering and later was the caretaker <strong>of</strong><br />

Morse Mountain and Small Point.<br />
