Candidate for Tax Collector, Treasurer & <strong>Town</strong> Clerk<br />
Hello, my name is Lisa Wallace and I would like to continue working for the citizens <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>Phippsburg</strong>! I have served as your Tax Collector/Treasurer since 2004. Your continued vote<br />
will allow me to serve you for many years to come.<br />
Over two decades ago I married Adam who was raised in <strong>Phippsburg</strong> and we raised our two<br />
children here and now enjoy sharing our community with two beautiful grandchildren. I really<br />
am proud to be a resident <strong>of</strong> our town and love to say I am from <strong>Phippsburg</strong>. A small town recognized<br />
for great community leaders and dedicated volunteers. We are fortunate to share a<br />
community where compassionate people truly care about their neighbors and friends.<br />
I appreciate that many folks have welcomed me to clarify the circumstances surrounding the<br />
recent tax deduction errors. FICA/Medicare withholding adjustments made to my personal payroll<br />
were out <strong>of</strong> compliance with required guidelines and since have been amended with the<br />
IRS. I was not aware <strong>of</strong> the federal law change (which can change on an annual basis) that<br />
temporarily changed FICA/Medicare tax withholding resulting in an underpayment by the town<br />
and again since have been amended with the IRS.<br />
Out <strong>of</strong> responsibility to myself and to you I have enrolled and since taken hours <strong>of</strong> courses<br />
to completely understand the payroll position <strong>of</strong> my job and I look forward to continuing this<br />
effort to better serve you.<br />
In response to the conversations I have held with you these are new and exciting things I<br />
have arranged to come in July 2013:<br />
The ability to accept credit and debit cards for transactions<br />
The installation <strong>of</strong> a drop <strong>of</strong>f box for after hour payments, pickups and requests<br />
If voted in as <strong>Town</strong> Clerk, expand services to include full time hours during all regular<br />
<strong>of</strong>fice hours<br />
Optional Online Dog Licensing<br />
I thank you for your support throughout my years <strong>of</strong> service to our town and I am looking<br />
forward to serving you in the future.<br />
