MGMT 449 INTERNATIONAL FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT<br />

(Class 3, Cr. 3)<br />

A study of the financial management of the international<br />

operations of the business. The course develops the international<br />

financial environment within which the multinational<br />

firm operates. Instruments such as currency forward, futures,<br />

and options contracts available for the firm to manage additional<br />

risk associated with international operations.<br />

MGMT 450 BUSINESS POLICY<br />

(Class 2, Lab. 2, Cr. 3)<br />

Prerequisite: MGMT 310 and MGMT 324 and MGMT 360 or OBHR 330<br />

Should be taken only in last semester of senior year. An<br />

extensive study of management problems in business at policymaking<br />

levels; primarily for students majoring in management.<br />

MGMT 465 FORECASTING FOR MANAGEMENT<br />

(Class 3, Cr. 3)<br />

Prerequisite: MGMT 225<br />

NOT open to students with credit in ECON 465. A course<br />

examining the statistical techniques of forecasting Emphasis<br />

is placed on time-series data and computer based methods of<br />

estimation and testing of marketing and financial data will<br />

be studies.<br />

MGMT 486 PROJECT MANAGEMENT<br />

(Class 3, Cr. 3)<br />

Prerequisite: MGMT 311<br />

The application of the knowledge, skills, and techniques that<br />

project managers use to manage projects. Emphasis is placed<br />

on learning and applying concepts of Project Management<br />

Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) which includes integration,<br />

scope, time, cost, quality, human resource, communication,<br />

and procurement aspects.<br />

MGMT 487 KNOWLEDGE AND DECISION MANAGEMENT<br />

(Class 3, Cr. 3)<br />

Prerequisite: MGMT 311<br />

This course explores the application of Decision Support<br />

Systems (DSS) Expert Systems (ES) and Knowledge<br />

Management Systems (KMS) to a company's strategic decision-making<br />

process. Topics include the decision-making<br />

process, decision context and types, expert systems opportunities,<br />

knowledge management, and the roles of decisionmaking<br />

tools.<br />

MGMT 490 PROBLEMS IN MANAGEMENT<br />

(Class 0 to 4, Cr. 1 to 4)<br />

Arrange with instructor before enrolling. Investigation in a<br />

specific management field.<br />

MGMT 495 INTERNSHIP IN MANAGEMENT<br />

(Class 1 to 4, Cr. 1 to 4)<br />

Prerequisites: Junior standing and consent of the instructor.<br />

A special course in selected areas of management, designed<br />

to provide practical field experience under professional<br />

supervision in selected situations related to the student's area<br />

of specialization.<br />

MGMT 503 ADVANCED ACCOUNTING<br />

(Class 3, Cr. 3)<br />

Prerequisite: MGMT 351<br />

Advanced course in financial accounting. A range of contemporary<br />

issues in financial reporting such as business combinations,<br />

consolidations, price-level adjustments, multi-nationals,<br />

and partnership accounting are covered. Both technical<br />

proficiency and user applications are emphasized.<br />

MGMT 504 TAX ACCOUNTING<br />

(Class 3, Cr. 3)<br />

Prerequisite: MGMT 350<br />

Basic tax course designed to provide an understanding of the<br />

various federal insurance contribution, self-employment and<br />

unemployment taxes.<br />

MGMT 505 MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTING II<br />

(Class 3, Cr. 3)<br />

Prerequisite: MGMT 310 and MGMT 351<br />

The focus of the course is managerial decision making and<br />

the economic role of information. Topics covered include<br />

decentralized financial performance evaluation, cost analysis,<br />

and financial planning and control systems.<br />

MGMT 506 AUDITING<br />

(Class 3, Cr. 3)<br />

A study of the concepts and procedures of auditing, which is<br />

the systematic process of objectively obtaining and evaluating<br />

evidence regarding assertions and economic actions and<br />

events. Primary emphasis is on audits conducted by independent<br />

certified public accountants, but topics covered<br />

apply to internal auditing as well.<br />

MGMT 507 ADVANCED FEDERAL INCOME TAXES<br />

(Class 3, Cr. 3)<br />

Prerequisite: MGMT 504<br />

Advanced course in federal income taxes, with a brief study<br />

of gift and estate taxes. Some issues covered in MGMT 504<br />

are studied in more depth, particularly taxation of corporations<br />

and partnerships. The course, which is taught in seminar<br />

format, gives the student considerable practice in doing<br />

tax research and reporting conclusions. It is especially appropriate<br />

for the student entering a career in a tax environment.<br />

MGMT 508 ACCOUNTING FOR<br />

NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS<br />

(Class 3, Cr. 3)<br />

Prerequisite: MGMT 351<br />

A fund accounting course for non-profit organizations.<br />

Accounting for government entities, colleges and universities,<br />

hospitals and other non-profit organizations are included. In<br />

addition, analysis and interpretation of not-for-profit organization<br />

statements are covered.<br />

MGMT 509 INTERNATIONAL ACCOUNTING<br />

(Class 3, Cr. 3)<br />

Provides insight into and understanding of the many accounting<br />

problems and issues faced in an international business<br />

environment. The material is approached from two compatible<br />

and overlapping perspectives: the perspective of accounting<br />

or financial management in a US multinational corporation<br />

and the perspective of an investor interested in understanding<br />

the internation business environment.<br />

MGMT 512 FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS AND MARKETS<br />

(Class 3, Cr. 3)<br />

Prerequisite: MGMT 310 or MGMT 610 or MGMT 611 NOT<br />

open to students with credit in MGMT 412.<br />

Analysis of management policy of financial institutions,<br />

including liquidity management, liability management, asset<br />

management, and capital management; description of the<br />

legal, economic, and regulatory environments and their<br />

implications for management. Emphasis on commercial<br />

bank management.<br />

MGMT 516 INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT<br />

(Class 3, Cr. 3)<br />

Prerequisite: MGMT 310 or MGMT 610 or MGMT 611 NOT<br />

open to students with credit in MGMT 445.<br />

Treatment of problems of portfolio analysis, capital markets,<br />

and securities investment selection. Theoretical development<br />

and practical applications, at the level of the individual<br />

decision-maker.<br />
