(6) If, between a dissolution <strong>of</strong> Parliament and <strong>the</strong> next<br />

ensuing general election <strong>of</strong> members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> National Assembly, an<br />

emergency arises <strong>of</strong> such a nature that, in <strong>the</strong> opinion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Prime<br />

Minister, it is necessary for <strong>the</strong> National Assembly to be<br />

summoned before <strong>the</strong> general election can be held, <strong>the</strong> President,<br />

acting in accordance with <strong>the</strong> advice <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Prime Minister, may<br />

summon <strong>the</strong> National Assembly <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> preceding Parliament; and<br />

that Parliament is <strong>the</strong>reupon to be taken (except for <strong>the</strong> purposes <strong>of</strong><br />

section 65) not to have been dissolved but is to be taken (except for<br />

those purposes) to be dissolved on <strong>the</strong> date on which <strong>the</strong> polls are<br />

held in <strong>the</strong> next ensuing general election.<br />

73.(1) After every dissolution <strong>of</strong> Parliament <strong>the</strong> President<br />

shall issue writs, returnable within ninety days from that<br />

dissolution, for a general election <strong>of</strong> members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> National<br />

Assembly.<br />

(2) As soon as may be after every general election, <strong>the</strong><br />

leaders <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> respective political parties contesting that election<br />

shall advise <strong>the</strong> President <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> names <strong>of</strong> those persons chosen to<br />

sit as members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> National Assembly, in accordance with <strong>the</strong><br />

proportion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> popular vote each political party has received at<br />

that election.<br />
