CHAPTER XIV<br />

LOCAL GOVERNMENT<br />

Local government<br />

Council for Carriacou<br />

and Petite Martinique<br />

188.(1) There shall be a Council for Carriacou and Petite<br />

Martinique, which shall be <strong>the</strong> principal organ <strong>of</strong> local government<br />

in those islands.<br />

(2) The Council shall have such membership and<br />

functions as Parliament may prescribe.<br />

(3) Parliament may also provide for a system <strong>of</strong> local<br />

government for <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r Parishes <strong>of</strong> Grenada, including <strong>the</strong> Town<br />

<strong>of</strong> St. George’s, with such membership and functions as may be<br />

deemed necessary for <strong>the</strong> citizenry’s participation in <strong>the</strong><br />

governance <strong>of</strong> Grenada.<br />
