Maintaining Your Control System<br />

Important:<br />

The SLC 5/03, SLC 5/04, and SLC 5/05 processors<br />

have a capacitor that provides at least 30 minutes of<br />

battery back-up while the battery is disconnected. Data<br />

in RAM is not lost if the battery is replaced within 30<br />

minutes.<br />

4. Remove the battery from the retaining clips.<br />

5. Insert a new battery into the battery retaining clips.<br />

6. Plug the battery connector into the socket as shown in the figure<br />

on page 9–5.<br />

7. Re-insert the module into the SLC 500 chassis.<br />

8. Restore power to the SLC 500 power supply.<br />

If it becomes necessary to replace the retainer clip (also called<br />

self-locking tab), order Catalog Number 1746-R15 (4 per package)<br />

If necessary, pry off the broken retainer clip from the bottom with a<br />

screwdriver. Do not twist it off. You can damage the module.<br />
