System Installation Recommendations<br />

Spacing Your Controllers<br />

The figure below depicts acceptable layouts. Follow the<br />

recommended minimum spacing to allow for convection cooling<br />

within the enclosure. Cooling air in the enclosure must be kept<br />

within a range of 0° C to +60° C (32° F to +140° F).<br />

Important:<br />

Be careful of metal chips when drilling mounting holes<br />

for the controllers. Do not drill holes above a mounted<br />

SLC 500 controller.<br />

Recommended Spacing<br />

15.3 to 20.0 cm (6 to 8 in.) when using the 1746-C9 cable. If<br />

you mount two 13-slot chassis above each other, the distance<br />

cannot exceed 10.2 to 12.7 cm (4 to 5 in.).<br />

B. Greater than 10.2 cm (4 in.)<br />

C. Greater than 15.3 cm (6 in.)<br />

D. 7.7 to 10.2 cm (3 to 4 in.) when using the 1746-C7 cable.<br />
