Dark Wave (20th-Fox)—Short
subject. Twentieth-Fox has a 20-
minute Cinemascope short subject
which deals with epilepsy
among childi-en. This is an excellent
short and I advise that
every exhibitor show this subject.
This short should be sold to the
schools, so every child and parent
could see it. If you could screen
it for the superintendent of
schools and some PTA members,
it will sell itself. I failed to sell
it, as I didn't know about its potential,
but I expect to bring it
back at a later date. You will
have many good comments from
your patrons after you show
"Dark Wave." Don't pass this up
by all means. Played Wed., Thm-s.

Susan Kohner. This is an excellent
picture and will do business.
It failed at Wautoma. Weather
was just too cold. Has been below
zero 17 straight days. I'll bring
this back in the summer. Played

Attack! (UA)—Jack Palance,

reading the critics' reports, I
was expecting this picture to do
better than average business. It
turned out to be a big disappointment.
It was a good war picture,
but very weak in star value. Personally,
I think it would have
been better in Cinemascope and

Robertson, Mara Corday, Jock
Mahoney. No better and no worse
than some of the other westerns
I've played recently. Dale Robertson
is the big name draw here
and he turns in a creditable per- .
formance. Nice color and good

support from the rest of the cast
make for a fair feature. Nothing

Culver. Good cast and very
well done, but not terribly exciting.
Business poor in spite of
the fact Jack Hawkins usually
is very popular with students.

PiUars of the Sky (U-D—Jeff
Chandler, Dorothy Malone, Ward
Bond. We usually do business
with Jeff Chandler, but when you
mention Indians or show them on
the advertising, there it goes! A
good enough picture, but would
have done much better on a
weekend even at the present
time. My patrons are all waiting
for the big pictures. So am I.
The ones that are, "It has been

Bond. Very good picture that
didn't do the business it should

Showdown at Abilene (U-D—
Jock Mahoney, Martha Hyer,
Lyle Bettger. Excellent horse
opera with a setting laid after
the end of the Civil War. Played
to average business, due to the
weather. Used a cartoon and replay
on "Tennessee Plowboy,"
really a good western short for
our situation. Played Saturday.

Walk the Proud Land (U-D—
Audie Murphy, Anne Bancroft,
Charles Drake. This feature
brought the lowest gross for three
days of any picture that has
played here in 13 years. It is
worthy of showing any time or
place. The drouth, plus TV, our
mortal enemy, is really rough.

Documentary. A sweetheart of a
picture, and what color! Everyone
will thoroughly enjoy this

Lone Ranger, The (WB)—
Clayton Moore, Jay Silverheels,
Lyle Bettger. Good average
grosser. Outdid "The Searchers"
by $20. At long last, a nice clean
show, no sex, no excessive brutality,
and many comments proved
this point. One mother said she
would send her youngsters often
if the shows were like this one.
It proves there is too much violence
and brutality generally in
screenfare. Weather: Good.—
