NEW HAMPSHIRE
The five children of the late AJisel N. Sanborn,
Carroll County theatre chain owner
and prominent legislator, have offered to sell
the town of Wolfeboro their recreation building
known as the Wolfeboro Casino. The
Casino, which Sanborn operated in addition
to his theatres, contains bowling alleys in
the basement, a hall and kitchen and grill.
There are tennLs courts which can be flooded
in winter, a large veranda overlooking Lake
Winnipesaukee, a wharf and shore frontage
Somei'sw-orth Theatre in Somersworth
was scheduled to be used on the evening
of March 31 for the presentation of the
Beaver Dam Little Theatre group in "Anastasia,"
under auspices of the Somersworth
Woman's Club.
The Bedford Grove Drive-In opened its new
season March 28 with the management promising
"a big lineup of screen hits" . . . Seven
recent burglaries in Manchester, including
breaks at the Pine Island Drive-In and Manchester
Drive-In, have been solved with the
arrest of four juveniles by Manchester police.
The breaks involved thefts of money and
equipment and vandalism which caused hundreds
of dollars in damage.
Revives 20th-Fox Combination
NEW HAVEN—The Fairmount played a
dual 20th-FQX revival bill, consisting of "Love
Is a Many Splendored Thing" and "The Last
Wagon."
New England Saturation
Planned for 'Macabre'
NEW YORK — "Macabre," whicli Allied
Artists calls a top hoi-ror thriller, has been
set for an April 16 .saturation premiere in
New England with over 100 theatres participating,
according to Morey R. Goldstein,
vice-prasident and general manager.
Hari-y Goldstein, exploitation director, will
handle the promotion, which will utilize
heavy radio, television and new.spaper coverage
tied to an in.surance policy written by
Lloyd's of London providing $1,000 for the
death of anyone due to fright while watching
the film. There will also be street ballyhoos,
lobby stunts and unique gimmicks in
strategic ix)ints in major cities.

NEW HAVEN—A break-in at
the Stanley
Warner Capitol in subui-ban Ansonia was
discovered March 25, but the burglars failed
to get any money. They did take a couple
of candy bars and a box of tickets, according
to Manager Harry Corleau. The tickets won't
do tlae unknown visitors any good "because
they're numbered and we'll be watching,"
Corleau told newspapers.
Callers Told 'Brothers K'
HARTFORD—Lou Cohen, Loew's Poll manager,
realizing that various staff members
would mispronounce the latter part of "Tlie
Brothers Karamazov," instructed that the
title, "Brothers K," be used in response to
phone queries.
