Construction of San Diego,

will start as soon as grading has been
completed, just off busy thoroughfare
Route 395 north of the city, according to
theatreman Theodore Tanner of San Diego
who heads the $200,000 project.
Tanner, a veteran of more than 30 years
motion picture operation and theatre management,
feels "Tu-Vu" accmately describes
the two-screen drive-in. He selected
the busy San Diego residential location because
of high traffic area, easy accessibility,
mushrooming growth, and perfect climate
conditions. "Southern California
weather is conducive to near 365-day operation,"
Tanner said.

Ground has already been broken, grading
almost completed, and the theatre is
expected to be in full operation by late
spring.
The double-screen theatre is in effect,
two theatres showing double features simultaneously
from a centrally located, oneunit
snack bar-projection booth situated
so it serves both theatres. Capacity is 1 .349
cars.
ALL PROJECTION PROCESSES
Layout has been so accurately planned
that even the furthermost car on either
side will be no farther than 600 feet from
its respective screen. Besides the resulting
sharper, brighter picture, screen placement
has been so calculated as to eliminate any
image distortion. The screens will be capable
of accommodating all ranges of wide
screen projection and are suitable for Todd
AO when such equipment becomes generally
available.
A 70-foot neon sign, designed and constructed
by Jacobson Neon Co. of San Diego
marks the theatre entrance.
Tanner plans staggered starting times of
movies on either side of the theatre to
avoid crowding of entrances, exits, and the
snack bar at intermission times.
FEATURE DAYTIME LUNCHES
Also, because of the snack bar's close
proximity to the highway, it will be open
for daytime use of patrons who work in
the area, and will feature specially prepared
luncheon menus under the direction
of Fiank Virga of San Diego, formerly connected
with the Pacific Drive-ln circuit in
Los Angeles.
The architectural firm of Stanley Burne,
San Diego, veteran in outdoor theatre construction,
has laid out plans for Tu-Vu.
Construction will be completed by Herbert
and Walter Long of Long Construction Co.
Several San Diego investors have joined
Tanner in financing the construction of
Tu-Vu Theatre.
