- Laptop Computers. The main sub-system can be one of several types of laptop
computers that have been fielded. Due to rapidly changing technology and the
procurement cycle for the IMOSS, current laptop types and configurations may
vary.
• Software. Due to rapidly changing technology and the procurement cycle for the
IMOSS, liaison with the Marine METOC officer will be required to learn what
products are currently available.
10.2.2.3 Communications Module.
The Communication Module receives alphanumeric weather data and facsimile broadcast
via the HF receiver. The receiver of the module has the capability to connect to the host
ship’s HF antenna system or be deployed independently with its own antenna. The
communication sub-system consists of a laptop computer (any of several that have been
fielded), an HF radio, HF receiving antenna, interface devices, Weather Fax for Windows
software, and associated cabling.
