current Annex Hotel for OPLANs, CONPLANs, Functional Plans, OPORDs, <strong>and</strong><br />

any applicable st<strong>and</strong>ard operating procedures (SOPs)<br />

- Review/underst<strong>and</strong> the Deliberate Planning <strong>and</strong> Crisis Action Planning processes<br />

as the planning processes apply to your CINC. Use <strong>Joint</strong> Staff Officer's Guide,<br />

<strong>Joint</strong> Pub 5-0, <strong>and</strong> your CINC's instructions. Know your responsibilities to the<br />

CINC when a crisis response cell (CRC) or Crisis Action Team (CAT) is stood up<br />

- Know your manning reserves <strong>and</strong> augmentation personnel. Obtain/review copy of<br />

your <strong>Joint</strong> Table of Distribution (JTD) <strong>and</strong> <strong>Joint</strong> Table of Mobilization Distribution<br />

(JTMD)<br />

- Know your available communications <strong>and</strong> systems; e.g., GCCS, SIPRNET,<br />

NIPRNET, GBS, AFWIN, AWDS, <strong>and</strong> SAFWIN. Liaison with your J6 <strong>and</strong><br />

component comm<strong>and</strong> METOC Officers to underst<strong>and</strong> available communication<br />

paths, compatibility of component communications, <strong>and</strong> viable methods to<br />

interface component METOC forces in joint operations. Learn the various<br />

communication pathways to obtain METOC data via homepage or bulletin boards<br />

within your division <strong>and</strong> at the comm<strong>and</strong> center. Learn to display METOC<br />

products in GCCS<br />

- Have a basic underst<strong>and</strong>ing of the effects on military operations of space weather<br />

<strong>and</strong> the space weather support infrastructure<br />

- Review/learn the climatology of your area of responsibility (AOR). Develop <strong>and</strong><br />

maintain climatology for your OPLANs <strong>and</strong> CONPLANs. Maintain climatology<br />

reference publications for AOR. Use AFCCC, Navy METOC Det Asheville,<br />

Comm<strong>and</strong>er, Naval METOC Comm<strong>and</strong> (CNMOC), <strong>and</strong> NAVOCEANO as<br />

necessary<br />

- Review/learn METOC software applications available from all Services. Obtain<br />

the necessary hardware to support the various software applications. Some of the<br />

software you may need at the CINC level are <strong>Joint</strong> METOC Viewer (JMV), CD-<br />

ROM library from Asheville <strong>and</strong> NAVOCEANO, a solar/lunar program (e.g.,<br />

NiteLight), Night Vision Goggles (NVG) data, <strong>Joint</strong> METOC Viewer, MRCAT,<br />

SatTrack (Satellite Tracking Program), a tropical storm tracking program, <strong>and</strong> the<br />

Geophysics Fleet Mission Program Library (GFMPL). AFCCC has a publication<br />

catalog <strong>and</strong> CNMOC publishes a list of available software<br />

- Review the universal list of METOC equipment. Refer to the Office of the Federal<br />

Coordinator for Meteorology (OFCM) weather equipment manual. Know what is<br />

available for an operation <strong>and</strong> what Service needs to be tasked to provide<br />

- Have a broad knowledge of Time Phased Force <strong>and</strong> Deployment Data<br />

(TPFDD)/List (TPFDL) <strong>and</strong> some of the key personnel/equipment Unit Type<br />

Codes (UTCs) by service. See Appendix A for further discussion of Service<br />
