- Sea height analysis <strong>and</strong> forecasts - sea height analysis based on ship observations<br />

<strong>and</strong> buoy information; high sea forecast areas are derived from projected tracks of<br />

low pressure systems, tropical systems, <strong>and</strong>/or significant wind gradients<br />

- OPAREA forecasts - forecasts for designated fleet operating areas, including<br />

synoptic weather <strong>and</strong> 24-hour forecasts<br />

- WEAX - enroute forecasts to ships operating at sea<br />

- OTSR (Optimum Track Ship Routing) - keeps ships out of destructive weather that<br />

would adversely impact their operations<br />

- Tropical weather forecasting<br />

- Satellite imagery<br />

- Oceanographic analysis <strong>and</strong> support<br />

- JOAFs or point forecasts until the JTF HQ METOC cell is established.<br />

- Mobile Environmental Team (MET) deployment<br />

- Quality control <strong>and</strong> overview of Navy afloat or JOAF forecasts<br />

- GCCS data - NITES can provide METOC overlays to include various warnings<br />

such as high wind <strong>and</strong> sea, tropical, special weather advisories, Gulf Stream <strong>and</strong> ice<br />

edge data for specific areas of interest (e.g., <strong>Joint</strong> Operational Area)<br />
