2.3.2 US <strong>Joint</strong> Forces Comm<strong>and</strong>.<br />
The USJFCOM J-7 Training Directorate acts as a lead in developing <strong>and</strong> refining joint<br />
doctrine, <strong>and</strong> has initiatives underway to improve availability of joint training <strong>and</strong> lessons<br />
learned to improve JTF formation <strong>and</strong> planning processes. Refinements to joint doctrine<br />
<strong>and</strong> information on specific functions of JTFs are available online on the NIPRNET<br />
(http://www.jtasc.acom.mil), with more information available on SIPRNET<br />

2.3.3 Armed Forces Staff College.<br />
AFSC publishes the "Purple Book", The <strong>Joint</strong> Staff Officer's Guide, which is a<br />
comprehensive, overall guide to DoD organization <strong>and</strong> joint staff guidance. The volume<br />
includes information on the <strong>Joint</strong> Staff, combatant comm<strong>and</strong>s, staff work, a survey of key<br />
joint publications, <strong>and</strong> overviews of the deliberate <strong>and</strong> crisis action planning processes,<br />
including formats for important documents (e.g., Intelligence Estimate, Comm<strong>and</strong>er's<br />
Estimate of the Situation, OPORDs, etc.) The Guide, known officially as AFSC Pub 1, is<br />
available through the Superintendent of Documents, US Government Printing Office,<br />
Washington DC 20402, or from the school at Armed Forces Staff College, <strong>Joint</strong> <strong>and</strong><br />
Combined Staff Officer School, ATTN: Pub 1 Coordinating Editor, 7800 Hampton Blvd,<br />
