Burnie Airport Corporation
A referral was sent to Burnie Airport Corporation (BAC) on the 20 September, 2012. A
response was received on the 2 October 2012 requiring additional information. An
additional information request was sent on 3 October 2012. Council received advice
from BAC on the 17 October 2012 that the additional information had satisfied their
concerns and included conditions to be placed on any permit if approved, (see attached).
Advertising
The application was advertised for a period of 14 days in accordance with the provisions
of the Land Use Planning and Approvals Act, 1993. During the advertising period, Council
received no representations.
STATUS OF USE AND DEVELOPMENT
The utilities use class is a primary use class in the Primary Industries Zone. The
application is however, discretionary as it relies on assessment against performance
criteria in relation to the following matters:
Clause 9.4.1, Issue 2.0 – Prime Agricultural Land
Clause 9.4.1, Issue 11.1 – Design and Form
Clause 22.2.1 (b) Telecommunications infrastructure requiring planning approval in
accordance with Section 57 of the Land Use Planning and Approvals Act
PLANNING ASSESSMENT
1.0 Primary Industries Zone
9.1 Values of the zone
9.1.1 This zone incorporates predominantly primary industry related use or
development of significant tracts of land from the coast through to the
southern extremities of the planning area. It includes land used for
farming, forestry, quarrying or mineral extraction processing works and a
range of non-urban uses such as roads and rail networks, electricity
distribution lines, water supply utilities and the like on private land, State
Reserves, State Forests and Crown Land.
9.1.2 The values associated with each of the areas in the zone are specified in
Part 2 of the planning scheme.
