22.5. APPENDICES
22.5.1 Appendix 1
OBJECTIVES PERFORMANCE CRITERIA ASSESSMENT
Visual amenity
To minimise any detrimental impact
upon the visual amenity of a locality
The location of infrastructure is
within existing utility corridors and
Complies - There were no suitable
co-location facilities within the area
by reducing prominence of sites and uses existing within which the tower needs to be
telecommunications infrastructure infrastructure, unless a need to do
otherwise is demonstrated.
sited. Given the purpose of the
facility is to provide broadband
services to the rural area, their
location need to meet a number of
criteria to ensure good coverage of
the service. The need to locate the
tower at the subject site has been
adequately addressed in the report
accompanying the application.
Aerial telecommunication lines or
additional supporting structures are
erected and operated in residential
and commercial areas only where
overhead cables operated by other
utilities are in existence.
Best practice methods are used to
reduce the visual impact of
infrastructure or to conceal
infrastructure within the
surrounding natural or built
environment.
Clearing for infrastructure corridors
and facilities is minimised to limit
visible prominence while
responding to functional and safety
requirements.
N/A the site is not located in a
residential or commercial area.
Complies – The proposed facility is
setback a minimum of 400 metres
from surrounding roads and is
within an area that whilst does
contain some residential dwellings
on agricultural properties, is not
densely populated and with the
exception of the dwellings on the
subject site and adjacent property,
all dwellings are in excess of 1 km
from the site.
The subject site has been chosen
because it has a stand of established
vegetation (approx. 15 metre high)
within which the facility can be
partially concealed. Whilst the
facility will still be visible above the
stand of trees, they will help to
soften the impact of the facility.
Not applicable – no clearing is
proposed.
