stephen dunifer is known <strong>in</strong> the United States as the “Johnny<br />

Appleseed” <strong>of</strong> the micropower broadcast<strong>in</strong>g movement. He is the<br />

founder <strong>of</strong> the legendary Free <strong>Radio</strong> Berkeley, and co-editor (with Ron<br />

Sakolsky) <strong>of</strong> the book, Seiz<strong>in</strong>g The Airwaves: A Free <strong>Radio</strong> Handbook<br />

(AK Press, 1998). He is the organizer <strong>of</strong> Internation<strong>al</strong> <strong>Radio</strong> Action<br />

Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> Education (IRATE) and Project TUPA (Transmitters<br />

Unit<strong>in</strong>g the Peoples <strong>of</strong> the Americas).<br />

roger farr is the author <strong>of</strong> a book <strong>of</strong> po<strong>et</strong>ry, Surplus (L<strong>in</strong>eBooks,<br />

2006), a contributor to the co-research project N 49 19. 47 – W 123 8.11<br />

(Recomposition, 2008), and the editor <strong>of</strong> PARSER: New Po<strong>et</strong>ry and<br />

Po<strong>et</strong>ics. Recent writ<strong>in</strong>g appears or is forthcom<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> Anarchist Studies,<br />

University <strong>in</strong> Vancouver, BC, but lives on an island at the end <strong>of</strong><br />

the di<strong>al</strong>, somewhere <strong>in</strong> the S<strong>al</strong>ish Sea.<br />

anna friz is a sound and radio artist, and a critic<strong>al</strong> media studies<br />

scholar. S<strong>in</strong>ce 1998 she has predom<strong>in</strong>antly created self-reflexive radio<br />

art/works for broadcast, <strong>in</strong>st<strong>al</strong>lation or performance, where radio is<br />

the source, subject, and medium <strong>of</strong> the work. She has extensively per-<br />
