EED 741. Health & PE Curriculum in Elementary<br />
School (1) F. Provides prospective teachers<br />
with the knowledge and skills to plan, teach, and<br />
evaluate health and physical education programs<br />
for K-8 classrooms. [Rep.]<br />
EED 751. Fieldwork in Elementary School<br />
(2). Orientation to the elementary school and<br />
classroom. Analyze school/classroom organization<br />
and teaching styles. Observation and limited<br />
participation teaching individuals/small groups.<br />
[Minimum 14 hrs per week in assigned school<br />
during weeks 2-8 of fall semester. CR/NC. Prereq:<br />

EED 752. Student Teaching in Elementary School<br />
(6). Practice teaching individuals, small groups, and<br />
large groups with close guidance from teacher. Attend<br />
to cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds of<br />
children. [Full-time fieldwork in assigned classrooms<br />
during the first week and last 7 weeks of fall semester.<br />

EED 753. Fieldwork in Elementary School<br />

EED 755. Student Teaching in Elementary<br />
School (2). Practice teaching individuals, small<br />
groups, and large groups, including team teaching<br />
with mentor teacher; participation in professional<br />

classroom to end of K-8 school year in<br />

EED 756. Extended Student Teaching in Elementary<br />
Schools (1-8). Practicum allowing additional<br />
fieldwork in elementary classrooms under guidance<br />
of practicing teachers. [45 hours fieldwork<br />
per credit unit. CR/NC. Prereq: admitted to EED<br />
program.]<br />
EED 757. Advanced Student Teaching (1-10).<br />
Assignment in elementary or secondary school<br />
program. May be in a special subject; may entail<br />
experimentation with methods of teaching.<br />

EED 776. Mainstreaming (2). Concept and<br />
practice, as provided in California Master Plan<br />
for Special Education. Referral, assessment,<br />
and appropriate modifications for special needs<br />
pupils. Fulfills special education requirement for a<br />
clear (Ryan) multiple or single subject credential.<br />

a teacher credential program and concurrently<br />

ENGL 120. Introduction to the English Major<br />
(4). Aims and methods of literary scholarship<br />
and criticism, to prepare for upper division work.<br />
Recommended first course in the major. One of<br />

ENGL 180. Macintosh Literacy for the 21st<br />
Century (3). Theoretical/practical introduction<br />
to the Macintosh as a communication tool in arts<br />

Workshop (3). Essay writing and critical reading.<br />
Instruction in small groups and individualized lab<br />

ENGL 205. Beginning Creative Writing (4).<br />
Write, analyze, and critique student poetry and<br />
fiction. For beginning students. Quality student<br />

ENGL 220. Literature, Identity and Representation<br />
(4). How social identities are created through<br />
language and texts; how categories of identity<br />
(gender, sexuality, race, nation, class, ethnicity,<br />
etc.) are central to the study of literature. [Prereq:<br />
ENGL 100 or 100i.]<br />
ENGL 225. Introduction to Language Analysis<br />
(4). Examination of the nature of human language,<br />
including its formal structure, usage, and variation.<br />
Emphasizes applications to the study of literature,<br />

ENGL 230 - 231. Survey of British Literature<br />
(4 - 4). Within chronological periods designated<br />
below, courses organized around major figures,<br />
