Learn<strong>in</strong>g Outcomes<br />

Develop<strong>in</strong>g learn<strong>in</strong>g outcomes was not part of the project<br />

remit 123 , although outcomes can be <strong>in</strong>ferred from the tables<br />

of <strong>in</strong>tegration po<strong>in</strong>ts (see above).<br />

Policy Development, Plann<strong>in</strong>g and Implementation Aspects<br />

At the time of writ<strong>in</strong>g, this secondary school capacity build<strong>in</strong>g<br />

project has just been completed. To mark the end of the<br />

project, the f<strong>in</strong>al pedagogical workshop on the curriculum took<br />

place with 40 m<strong>in</strong>istry level participants <strong>in</strong> November 2011.<br />

It was followed by an official ceremony at which all the project<br />

documentation was passed over to the M<strong>in</strong>istry of Education<br />

who approved the materials development. With a preface<br />

written and signed by the M<strong>in</strong>ister of Environment and M<strong>in</strong>ister<br />

of Education, the teacher and student guidebooks are ready<br />

for distribution. It is the <strong>in</strong>tention of UNDP to distribute<br />

them widely, <strong>in</strong> hard copy free-of-charge, across the country.<br />

However, this plan has not yet been realized given the lack of<br />

fund<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the foreseeable future. It is also UNDP’s <strong>in</strong>tention<br />

to share the project outputs widely across the region. Thus<br />

far Togo, Senegal and Niger have expressed their <strong>in</strong>terest <strong>in</strong><br />

replicat<strong>in</strong>g and dissem<strong>in</strong>at<strong>in</strong>g the materials developed <strong>in</strong> Ben<strong>in</strong>.<br />

There is also an emerg<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>tention to capitalize on the project<br />

experience <strong>in</strong> a new UN CC Learn pilot project (2011-2013) 124<br />

<strong>in</strong> Ben<strong>in</strong> 125 .<br />
