services for 2,600 <strong>in</strong>ternally displaced and refugee children<br />

<strong>in</strong> 14 districts. UNICEF also provides roof<strong>in</strong>g materials,<br />

educational supplies, and toys and recreational equipment.<br />

In 2006 <strong>in</strong> Ch<strong>in</strong>a, children, all of whom are tot<strong>in</strong>g school<br />

backpacks, walk arm-<strong>in</strong>-arm around the Barkhor, which is the<br />

'kora' or pilgrim's sacred path, encircl<strong>in</strong>g the Jokhang Temple<br />

On 21 May, three students, wear<strong>in</strong>g face masks, stand <strong>in</strong> front<br />

of the ru<strong>in</strong>s of Juyan Middle <strong>School</strong>, which collapsed dur<strong>in</strong>g the<br />

earthquake, kill<strong>in</strong>g 400 students, <strong>in</strong> the town of Dujiangyan,<br />

<strong>in</strong> Sichuan Prov<strong>in</strong>ce. The students were <strong>in</strong> the school at the<br />

time of the quake, but managed to escape.<br />
