excel in their studies. Each one of these children impacted their
community and is a testimony to the transformational power of
the Lord.
As people come to know the Lord and experience life as He
offers it, whole communities are radically changed. Suddenly
there is grace, there is peace and there is a supernatural love that
people have for one another. Even tribes that had been engaged
in bloody conflicts for as long as anyone can remember are suddenly
meeting together to worship the Lord in unity.
It is impossible to tell the full extent of what the Lord is doing
in Asia today; there is no one person who knows all of it! However,
the events going on in one community in Uttar Pradesh are
a highlight of the awesome work of the Lord.
When we first went to this community, we were struck with
the hopelessness and oppressive atmosphere in which the people
lived. The children were uneducated, hardly dressed and sick
from easily preventable causes like having no clean water to drink
or a vitamin deficiency. The parents and their children toiled all
hours of the day or didn’t work at all and went hungry. Many of
the men would come home and abuse their wives and children,
wasting their money on drugs and alcohol. They knew nothing
of the genuine love of Christ.
For the past several years, Gospel for Asia has been focusing
our efforts to show Christ’s love to these hurting people. This has
been done through drilling Jesus Wells, setting up GFA Bridge
of Hope centers, holding one-day medical clinics, establishing
literacy programs for the women and basically doing all we can
to help these people better survive the harsh circumstances into
which they were born.
