The 4/14 Window are children between the ages of 4
and 14. These are the critical years when a child’s character and
worldview are molded. 1
➛ 1.2 billion children worldwide are in the 4/14 Window. 2
➛ More than 300 million children—one-fourth of the
entire 4/14 Window—live in the South Asian countries
of India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal and Sri Lanka. 3
➛ If these South Asian children formed their own
nation, its population would be as large as the United
States.
Child labor standards have been established by the United
Nations to protect children from exploitation in the workplace.
➛ 150 million of the 4/14 Window are child laborers, employed
in violation of these standards. 4
