A third technique is a combination of the two discussed earlier. Leaving the original dismounted OP in position (with<br />

a vehicle in support, if possible), the scouts detach a vehicle or vehicle section and reposition it in depth as either a<br />

mounted or dismounted OP. This OP can be established or reoriented to maintain contact until the enemy force can be<br />

handed off to a maneuver element. This technique reduces both the time associated with moving OPs and the<br />

likelihood that any scout element will be compromised. Refer to Figure 4-9A and 4-9B).<br />
