Homecoming and Founders’ Day Festival. Spring Break, Easter Break and Fall Holiday trips<br />

to Walt Disney, Key West and the Bahamas are scheduled annually as well as trips to local<br />

attractions. Lastly, during the lunch time hour we program many barbecues, pep rallies,<br />

novelty acts and musicians. Each event is designed to educate beyond the walls of a class<br />

room.<br />

STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS<br />

Student organizations provide opportunities to enrich the academic experience of<br />

college. You are encouraged to become actively involved in campus life and the local<br />

community by pursuing your special interests and hobbies through involvement in social and<br />

academic student organizations.<br />

<strong>Barry</strong> <strong>University</strong> reserves the right to register groups of <strong>Barry</strong> students who wish to<br />

create formal organizations. Registration of a student organization by <strong>Barry</strong> <strong>University</strong> is an<br />

acknowledgment that the organization has complied with registration procedures and the goals,<br />

objectives and activities are in line with the <strong>University</strong> mission and the Dominican character of<br />

the <strong>University</strong>. The <strong>University</strong> will grant all rights and privileges accorded every registered<br />

organization.<br />

Registration of a student organization implies that the <strong>University</strong> approves the<br />

organization’s constitution and that the student organization’s purpose coincides with the<br />

philosophy of the <strong>University</strong>.<br />

Registration does not indicate or imply that the <strong>University</strong> endorses the individual<br />

views of the organization’s membership or the views expressed at meetings. The individuals<br />

involved are solely responsible for any views held or expressed.<br />

Only student organizations which maintain good standing as officially registered<br />

<strong>Barry</strong> <strong>University</strong> student organizations by following all applicable policies and procedures<br />

stated within the <strong>Barry</strong> <strong>University</strong> Student Activities Manual, section titled Student<br />

Organization Policies & Procedures, will be authorized to use <strong>University</strong> facilities or services.<br />

The <strong>University</strong> reserves the right to review the activities of student organizations<br />

and to monitor compliance with <strong>University</strong> policies. The right of a student organization,<br />

including a fraternity or sorority, to exist at the <strong>University</strong> can be revoked by the <strong>University</strong> if<br />

it fails to comply with the rules and regulations of <strong>Barry</strong> <strong>University</strong> including but not limited to<br />

the student rights and responsibilities.<br />

The opportunities for student involvement in campus activities are endless. There<br />

are more than 70 student organizations that meet the needs and interests of students.<br />

Registered student organizations include governing, media, service, Greek, special interest,<br />

professional, religious, international and honorary groups. These groups encompass a wide<br />

range of interests and welcome your participation. For more information about <strong>Barry</strong><br />

The Student Government Association serves as a communication link between<br />

undergraduate students and all other elements of the university. All students are members of<br />

the association, which is governed by an Executive Board consisting of four members, and the<br />

Senate consisting of 16 elected representatives. Twelve members are elected during the spring<br />

semester, and the remaining four places are filled early in the fall semester. Unless otherwise<br />
