HARASSMENT<br />

Verbal or physical threats and/or intimidation toward students, staff or faculty are<br />

prohibited. Harassment based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender and/or sexual orientation is<br />

prohibited.<br />

PROPERTY OFFENSES<br />

Students may not engage in theft, malicious destruction, defacement, damage or misuse<br />

of university or private property. This also includes the theft and posting of street and traffic<br />

signs. Replacement and repair costs will be charges to the responsible party(ies).<br />

ALCOHOL<br />

Students who are of legal age (twenty-one or older) are permitted to consume and/or<br />

possess alcoholic beverages within the confines of their rooms or apartments. Alcohol<br />

consumption and/or possession of alcoholic beverages in public areas, such as hallways,<br />

lounges, balconies or courtyards are prohibited. Students of legal age can only have enough<br />

alcohol for personal consumption (up to a 6 pack of beer, a bottle of wine, or a small bottle of<br />

liquor). Beer kegs, party balls and/or large containers of alcohol are strictly prohibited.<br />

Alcoholic beverages may not be served, sold or given to any minor in any housing unit.<br />

Pyramids or displays of empty beverage containers are not allowed in residence halls.<br />

No alcohol signs, or other paraphernalia with alcohol advertising and/or logos may be<br />

displayed.<br />

SOCIAL GATHERINGS<br />

Social gatherings, parties, and meetings in individual rooms are subject to all municipal,<br />

state, and federal laws, as well as university policies. The number of people in a room at any<br />

time including residents of the room (unit), must be limited as follows.<br />

Asking for an admission fee to any party or gathering is prohibited. Residential life staff<br />

reserve the right to disperse a gathering when residents or guests are in violation of any<br />

university policy.<br />

DRUGS<br />

The manufacture, sale, use, and/or possession of any substance declared illegal by a<br />

municipal, state or federal law is prohibited in residence halls and on campus. <strong>Dr</strong>ug related<br />

paraphernalia is also prohibited on campus.<br />

WEAPONS<br />

The possession and/or storage of firearms, martial arts paraphernalia and/or other<br />

weapons is prohibited in the residence halls.<br />

FIREWORKS & COMBUSTIBLES<br />

Fireworks, gasoline, and/or other combustible items are not permitted in the residence<br />

halls. Motorcycles and other fuel driven engines are not permitted anywhere inside residence<br />

hall facilities or on porches.<br />

FIRE EQUIPMENT, FIRE ALARMS & DRILLS<br />

Residents must agree to cooperate with staff and participate in fire drills and other<br />

emergency procedures including exiting the building and/or going to designated shelters in<br />

case of a tornado or hurricane.<br />

The setting of false fire alarms is prohibited by Florida Statute, Section 806.101, and is a<br />

misdemeanor of the first degree. Activating fire alarms or smoke detectors, tampering with fire<br />
