GREEK LIFE<br />

The Greek men and women of <strong>Barry</strong> <strong>University</strong> are founded upon the principles of<br />

developing quality leaders through commitment to academic excellence, dedicated service to<br />

the <strong>University</strong> and its surrounding community and the promotion of healthy and responsible<br />

social interaction while maintaining a unified Greek environment.<br />

Greek affiliation is an excellent way to enhance your college career. Governed by<br />

the Interfraternity and Panhellenic Councils, <strong>Barry</strong>’s fraternities and sororities encourage<br />

interpersonal, academic, moral, ethical and professional development through a wide range of<br />

leadership and involvement opportunities. The <strong>Barry</strong> <strong>University</strong> Greek community includes:<br />

FRATERNITIES<br />

Interfraternity Council – the governing body of the <strong>Barry</strong> fraternities, the IFC strives to<br />

promote the value of interfraternalism to the entire campus. The IFC coordinates events such<br />

as men’s recruitment, Habitat for Humanity service day and Greek Week. Members of the IFC<br />

also attend local and regional leadership conferences and provide direction and motivation for<br />

the <strong>Barry</strong> <strong>University</strong> Greek community.<br />

Alpha Delta Gamma Fraternity – each ADG member is provided with the opportunity to<br />

reach his full potential through the five S’s: community services, scholarship, spirituality,<br />

school spirit and social events. ADG’s strive for a common goal of true and loyal friendship,<br />

even beyond their college years. The Psi Chapter of Alpha Delta Gamma has been a strong<br />

force on the <strong>Barry</strong> <strong>University</strong> campus for over five years.<br />

Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity – Phi Tau values a spectrum of diversity: differing cultural and<br />

ethnic backgrounds, a full range of academic, professional and personal interests, a variety of<br />

ambitions, and a host of talents. The Epsilon Iota Chapter of Phi Kappa Tau has been<br />

contributing to the <strong>Barry</strong> <strong>University</strong> campus and local community for six years and continues<br />

their commitment to excellence.<br />

Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity – the fraternity is committed to the principles of scholarship,<br />

community service, leadership, friendship and physical well being. The TKE colony at <strong>Barry</strong><br />

<strong>University</strong> was founded in the fall of 1996 by men from 11 different countries. Their focus is<br />

on diversity and unity, with the goal of promoting multi-cultural issues and cultural awareness.<br />

SORORITIES<br />

Panhellenic Council – the governing body of the <strong>Barry</strong> sororities, the Panhellenic Council<br />

strives to promote the values and scholarship, service, sisterhood and social well being to the<br />

women of <strong>Barry</strong>. The Panhellenic Council coordinates events such as women’s formal<br />

recruitment, clothes drives, Aids Walk, Greek Week and the annual Greek Award Banquet.<br />

Members of the Panhellenic Council also attend local and regional leadership conferences and<br />

provide direction and motivation for the <strong>Barry</strong> <strong>University</strong> Greek community.<br />

Alpha Phi International Sorority – as symbolized by their motto, “Union Hand in Hand,”<br />

Alpha Phi’s on campus and across the country share the same treasured collection of values<br />

and the same timeless bond of friendship. The Theta Omega chapter has been active for over<br />

three years, receiving their charter in May, 1996. In 1998 Alpha Phi was recognized as the<br />

1997 – 1998 Chapter of the Year.<br />

Alpha Gamma Delta International Sorority – the Alpha Gamma Delta purpose guides the<br />

organization, highlighting understanding, wisdom, friendship, community service and high<br />

ideals and the principles for all members to embrace. Chartered in March of 1998, the Theta<br />
