Assemble Drill String<br />
Assemble Drill String<br />
Moving tools will kill or injure. Shut off drill string power when anyone can<br />
be struck by moving or thrown tools. Never use pipe wrenches on drill string.<br />
Prepare Beacon Housing<br />
1. Select nozzles and bit.<br />
IMPORTANT: A variety of nozzles and bits are available to suit your particular job conditions. See<br />
“Downhole Tools” on page 110 for more information, or contact your <strong>Ditch</strong> <strong>Witch</strong> dealer.<br />
2. Insert nozzle (2) into beacon housing.<br />
3. Attach bit (3) to beacon housing (1).<br />
4. Install beacon, following beacon instructions<br />
for:<br />
• battery replacement<br />
• beacon positioning<br />
5. Install beacon housing lid. See “Beacon<br />
Housings” on page 111.<br />
6. Follow beacon instructions to check beacon<br />
operation.<br />
7. Follow tracker instructions to calibrate<br />
beacon.<br />
Attach EZ-Connect to Drill Head<br />
1. Apply tool joint compound to shoulders and threads and hand tighten EZ-Connect adapter (4) to<br />
beacon housing (1).<br />
2. Use quick wrench to fully tighten joint.<br />
